Chromium Metal Powders

Chromium metal is manufactured by the aluminothermic reduction of chromium oxide, then crushed and ground to specific size requirements.

Chromium metal is used in the following applications:

• - Hardfacing
• - To match weld metal deposit composition to parent mtal
• - Powder metallurgy

The standard grade of chromium metal powder is Standard Welding Grade, used in the production of welding electrode consumables. Regular and vacuum melting grade chromium are principally used in the production of superalloys.
