LSM Technical Centre

LSM has a well-equipped technical centre at the Rotherham site. The technical group is highly trained and experienced in many modern metallurgical and analytical methods including Six Sigma methods of investigation and enquiry to Black Belt level. This group provides technical support for LSMs commercial and production activities, as well as to other parts of Metallurg. LSM has an active technical development programme aimed at contributing significantly to the overall business.

Technical Facilities

The technical facilities are extensive, and include:

• Induction furnaces
• Resistance furnaces
• Gas fired furnaces
• Crushing/grinding
• Sizing/classification
• Size measurement
• SEM/TEM
• Powder density measurement
• Laser particle size analysis

These enable development work to be carried out in many aspects of the company`s widely ranging production capabilities, such as:

• Alloy manufacture
• Heat treatment
• Testing and analysis
