The Engineering systems division designs, engineers and produces advanced vacuum furnace systems for a variety of applications including vacuum remelting, solar silicon melting and vacuum heating treatment. These systems are used in many high profile industries such as aerospace, energy and speciality steel industries.
The Advanced Materials division is home to, amongst others, the LSM group of companies.Together these companies produce a wealth of niche metals and complex metal products.
London and Scandinavian Metallurgical Co. Limited (LSM) is a highly specialised mnufacturer of aluminium alloys and grain refiners, tabletted alloying materials, chromium metal, ferrotitanium, nickel boron, and special powders at its Rotherham site in the UK.
Optical Surface Technologies (OST), a division of LSM in Rotherham, produces cerium oxide-based glass polishing powders.
The Aluminium Powder Company (ALPOCO), an LSM company, manufactures an extensive range of atomised aluminium powders and special alloy powders. Alpoco operates from production facilities in Anglesey and Minworth in the UK and Skawina, Poland.
LSM (Jiaxing) co. Limited, based in the Zhejiang province of the People's Republic of China, was set up in 2008 as a manufacturing facility for LSM's Mn-containing alloying tablets.
LSM's sister company, LSM Brazil SA, based in Sao Joao del Rei, is also a global leader in the manufacture of specialised products for the aluminium and steel industries.
